Foundation Training is a bodyweight practice that uses a combination of powerful movements, intentional poses, and conscious breathing work to activate the muscles in your posterior chain. Our bodies have adapted, often in unnatural and potentially harmful ways to our modern lifestyles (e.g. frequent sitting, staring at computer screens, looking down at phones). By rewiring poor patterns ingrained in our bodies from our lifestyles, Foundation Training can help you feel better in everything you do, from picking up your kids to riding mountain bikes. When you practice regularly, your pain diminishes, your resistance to injury increases, and your body learns how to properly support itself and move as nature intended.
Foundation Training consists of 18 template movements, each of which has many variations. While each movement has specific benefits, you do not need to do all 18 to see benefits. Many people have experienced pain reduction and improved biomechanics doing only a couple of movements each day. With as little as 10 minutes of a day, you can reduce pain, increase strength, and a reclaim your health and vitality.
Gordon Performance Acupuncture, PLLC offers private Foundation Training lessons. You can schedule a 30 or 50 minute session online or contact the clinic if you are interested in a different length class. If you have no experience with Foundation Training, we recommend starting with a 50 minute class, but a 30 minute class is still worthwhile.
